This painting is meant to describe a wave of emotions, the anxiety of pushing through, "getting it done", even when it's challenging. It's the restlessness of being somewhat unaligned and still having to move. The colours were important to me in that they were almost comforting, doing work to avoid facing emotion is almost manageable but it can feel like whiplash when it catches up to you.Whirl was created using big gestures, thick gesso, and by combining brush work and finger painting, I was able to connect my body into the motion of this energy expression.
