In Between Identities

Graphic Design
2020
Through storytelling and nostalgic elements, 'In Between Identities' explores the frustrations, conflicts and stereotypes one experiences when existing between cultures, and the process of how these feelings and differences can form unique, self-defined identities. This thesis serves as a constant reminder to myself that I am still learning and accepting parts of my culture and identity that I have tried to repress in the past. Through various forms including a zine, self-portrait, stickers and temporary tattoos, 'In Between Identities' aims to show the traumatizing and hurtful reality that many Chinese-Canadians have to endure, from name calling and racism, to cultural insecurities.
