Online gallery and experimental curatorial platform for art, design and digital media. Serving the OCAD U community and the general public, ePortfolio aims to foster social and cultural transformations.
Founded in 1876, OCAD U is dedicated to art and design education, practice and research and to knowledge and invention across a wide range of disciplines. OCAD U continuously builds on its traditional, studio-based strengths, adding new approaches to learning that champion cross-disciplinary practice, collaboration and the integration of emerging technologies. In the Age of Imagination, members of the OCAD U community are uniquely qualified to act as catalysts for the next advances in culture, technology and quality of life for all Canadians.
Emerging artists and designers need ways to get their work out into the public. Many have websites and online portfolios, but they lack an easy way to build catalogues and get these into the hands of prospective clients, business partners and patrons. For example, OCAD U's annual Graduate Exhibition – GradEx – sees more than 40,000 people come on campus to see student works and to meet upcoming graduates. A gap was identified to have an easy to use solution that provides students with the skills and capacity to promote themselves to meet this incredible annual market for their products and emerging businesses.
GreenRack offers artefacts that link to a cloud ePortfolio of works and biographies, providing an easy way to promote art and design sales, while supporting student innovation and entrepreneurship skills. The project will enhance the ability of students and alumni to sell art and design works, with curricular models to support business skills development, supporting innovation and entrepreneurship skills.
