Shakchunni, A Lesson from the Dead

Shakchunni examines how patriarchal gender norms are upheld through the Bangla folktale of the Shakchunni, a spirit punished for failing her duties as a woman. The series reclaims monstrosity as a form of autonomy through metamorphosis and internalized gender roles.
