“‘The Lives of the Modern Artists’ is a series of works depicting everyday events from a creative perspective. Using slice-of-life illustrations with fantastical aspects, the viewer is transported into the world of an artist, experiencing their thoughts and feelings, moments in one's life that you may not always see alongside. Each illustration depicts a different way of making art. Regardless of their differences, they all share the same common ground, the labour of love.”
"Throughout my life, I have read a great deal of stories in the form of novels, picture books, comic books, and graphic novels. I found myself through characters and grew alongside them. I made self-discoveries and expanded my view of the world through them. These stories were magical and full of vital themes that I have found myself continuing to ponder and analyze to this day."In their work, Sofia employs comic and graphic novel formats and styles to tell stories and elicit emotions through characters, settings, colour, patterns, and symbols. Sofia uses a variety of genres in their work, allowing stories to take form in whichever medium seems fit. As an artist and storyteller, their goal is to evoke emotion in the viewer by transforming words into images. With each illustration, Sofia strives to connect with those who view their work and allow readers to feel seen, heard and represented. In a world where the importance of tales is fading, They wish to share their passion for stories and inspire others to do the same.
