“My work is centred around parts of my identity that are more taboo, especially queerness and mental illness. Using hyper-feminine colour pallets, tactility, horror, and glitter, I want to draw people into the circus of my installations and create an odd space of comfort and play for others like me. ”
Abbey Hall is a Toronto based artist who primarily works in acrylic paint but also does sculpture, and multi-media works, bringing these elements together in installation pieces. The key ideas and concepts focused on in her work are; mental health representation, queer rights, femininity/expression, and anti-capitalism. The main features of her paintings or sculptures are; romantic colour pallet, a mix of the cute and the uncomfortable, and an exploration of emotions in her daily life.
