Sloppy Craft and Sculpture
“Making and Mending is a collection of process-based research. By using methods such as deskilling and reskilling, my work applies sloppy craft practices to create time consuming soft sculptures. These works of crocheting and embroidery are focused on storytelling and building connections to mending practices today. Contrasting this practice, my use of bronze casting through mould-making processes aims to capture the likeness of hands and tools. Together, these various interdisciplinary practices aim to honour women’s work and to consider possibilities of sharing these various sculptural techniques with others. ”
