By using open-source software and 3D printing methods, Vanessa is able to create a personal supply chain of tools. These tools are far more fragile and less refined than the mass produced tools that she uses daily for crocheting and mending. Making a mould of these most-used tools enabled Vanessa to cast them in more fragile mediums, such as plaster.
