Emily Hughes is an emerging Canadian artist based in the Greater Toronto Area, with a BFA from OCAD University and a specialization in Drawing and Painting. Emily paints primarily in oils, employing the traditional “alla prima,” or wet-on-wet technique; she often completes a piece in one sitting. Her work is largely portraiture-based as she contemplates the human condition on canvas. Each work is an exploration of memories, dreams, and the ways in which they often overlap or become indiscernible.
