“The best way to predict the future is to invent it!”
Vladimir Kanic is an award-winning multi-disciplinary artist with background in computer science. He is the recipient of the Poggetto award for the best academic achievement as well as the CRSC award for the best academic research in 2021. His pioneering work with biopolymers and algae biotech has been recognized by Torontonian academic and art community - he currently has eight oxygen-producing bioart sculptures on display at the Abbozzo Gallery in Toronto until June 2022. His award-winning experimental animation Only Lovers Leave to Die has been selected to eyeCANdy programme as one of top ten Canadian contemporary films in 2020 and he also teaches organic algae animation course at Toronto Animated Image Society. He is also a free diver and an avid environmentalist and can be spotted diving out trash from the oceans in his free time.
