“"Two Sides of the Same Sikh" is a body of work that uses Sikhism as its framework to view religion from multiple perspectives and prove that religion is not a rigid structure but rather one that adapts to its followers’ need, looking different in practice between generations. Younger generations are not necessarily less religious than older generations, but rather practise in different ways. ”

Simran Singh is an illustrator, artist, and author presently based in Toronto, Canada. She studied Illustration and Textiles at the Ontario College of Art and Design University (OCAD U). While her clothing choice remains aesthetically achromatic, her work tends to be filled with warm and vibrant colours. Some of the themes that Simran is presently exploring in her work are based around her own identity and cultural background. She hopes to be able to reach a younger audience with her work and spark discussions into communities that are not accustomed to such talk. Simran feels it is part of her duty to bring more representation and diversity into the art world through her illustrations. She never wants any one to grow up wondering why they didn't see themselves in popular culture and media.
