Textile Designer
“I'm Sarah, a Canadian born artist and designer who creates textile art inspired by fantasy and fairytales. My practice began as an illustrator and painter before discovering my love for textile design and costumes. My goal as an artist and maker is to create wearable and decorative art pieces that tell stories. My work is mostly inspired by nature, fairy-tales, historical fashions, and fantastical worlds. Through techniques such as sewing, pattern drafting, surface design, beading, embroidery, felt-making, natural dyes, metal and leather work, I am able to bring these stories to life in the form of decorative and wearable art.”
Sarah is a 26 year old Canadian born artist and designer creating textile art and costumes inspired by fantasy and fairytales. Her design philosophy is that design should tell a story and bring a character or concept to life. Each piece she makes is intended to be an art object, through careful construction and finishing techniques.
