“Azia Kalaw-Dacpano is a multidisciplinary lens based artist in Toronto, Ontario. As a second-generation Filipino, she documents her experience within a diaspora and what it means to be reconnected to the motherland. ”
Azia Kalaw-Dacpano (b. 1999, Toronto, Ontario) is a second-generation Filipino artist based in Toronto. An emphasis on the intimacy of relationships (ie. platonic, familial, romantic) is the motivation for her work. Her primary practice is documentary photography with a background in video work, installation and textiles.Her recent work, "Mending ng Angkan" explores her experience within the Filipino diaspora. Tradition and culture play a big role within the work, creating connections to her heritage.
