“So I’m just trying to figure out how one can live- how does one survive but also find home in a place like this. “They fly into buildings a lot and break their wings”, she says”
Maddy Young is an artist from Toronto. Maddy is influenced by Dada, Situationist and Fluxus art movements, creating a style of work that uses public and semi-public spaces, viewer interaction, and gathered readymade materials. Her work curates relationships of objects, people, and animals in montage encounters, creating meaning through interaction and intersubjectivity. Recently she has been thinking about home, the ways space and time contract, circle and expand in her city, and exploring iconic urban imagery through this lens. Maddy is a chair of the Sculpture/Installation club, and started the Sculpture/Installation Festival with her co-chairs. She is also an active curator and art event organizer outside of OCAD.
