“Lens-Based ArtistHanmin Yun is a versatile photographer with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from OCAD University. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for storytelling, Yun's work captures the essence of life's moments, from the intimate to the grand. His portfolio spans portraits, fashion, events, and landscapes, showcasing a blend of technical skill and artistic vision. Yun's career highlights include collaborations with prestigious organizations such as Fashion Group International and Fashion Art Toronto, where he excelled as event and runway photographer. His expertise extends beyond traditional photography, encompassing experimental processes like pinhole cameras, van dyke and cyanotype printing.Through exhibitions like ARAW-ARAW and TERRA & COSMOS, Yun has invited audiences to immerse themselves in his world of collaboration of serenity of the Earth and the astronomical sublime, infused with the intention to revitalize self-reflection and humility. ”
Hanmin Yun is a photographer, based in Toronto, ON.Hanmin spent his early childhood days in Paris, France and early teenage years in South Korea. Growing up, he was introduced to numerous science-related documentaries, including - “Cosmos: A Personal Voyage” (PBS, 1980), which has given inspiration to his recent exhibition series “Terra & Cosmos”.In 2010, he moved to Montreal, QC, spending the next two years adjusting to a new life in Canada. This is when he decided to stay in Canada for his later studies. While attending Trinity College School in Port Hope, he learned to broaden his perspective of the world and the people that live in it. During this time at Trinity, he picked up his first camera and started shooting events whenever and wherever he could as the school’s first official student photographer. Then, he moved on to the University of Toronto where he studied philosophy and sociology for two years. In 2018, Hanmin made a bold choice to pursue Photography deeply and commenced studying at the Ontario College of Arts and Design University, towards an honours bachelor’s degree in photography.His early adulthood was spent back in South Korea, during the COVID-19 pandemic, while serving the country in the military. As part of the Public Affairs Office, Hanmin worked as editor-in-chief for ‘The Indianhead’ , a monthly bi-lingual magazine for the 2nd Infantry Division of United States Forces Korea (USFK) at US Army Garrison Humphreys. He was discharged from service as a Korean Sergeant (KSGT.)Hanmin is currently in East York, Toronto. He is expected to graduate in Spring 2024, with a Bachelor’s degree in Photography at OCAD U. He continues to avidly pursue his passion in many photographic areas, which include, but are not limited to landscape, astronomy, studio, fashion, street, etc. He is actively engaging in numerous local events such as Waterfront Awards, Fashion Art Toronto, Studio IDFK, etc.
