“Roots & Renewal is a collection of three jewelry objects created in reflection of traditional Korean art and culture through the lens of contemporary design. Within the hairpin, earrings, and bracelet lays motifs of the chrysanthemum knot, rose of Sharon, and dragon, all connected together with the metalwork traditional technique of keumboo. This collection is to display the importance of maintaining connections to cultural roots while practicing modern craft, and how historical methods of art can still be applied to new innovation design. It had been designed with the vision of being worn for special Korean occasions. Made with sterling silver, copper, and 24k gold through fabrication and casting.”
