“"Deities Office" illustrates the imaginative future life scenes and working conditions of different gods and goddesses from traditional Chinese folktales performing their duties as "civil servants" for the human world. Aiming to reinterpret the ancient folktales with new meanings through a modern lens as people seem to be losing interest in history and traditional culture.”
Alina Hou is a Toronto-based illustrator originally from China. She graduated from OCAD University with a major in BDES Illustration. Her illustrations draw inspiration from fairy tales, daily life, and cats. Employing digital media, Alina creates playful images that feature a harmonious blend of shapes, textures, and patterns. She believes that retaining a sense of childlike wonder as adults is important and hopes that her illustrations resonate with those who share this sentiment and do not wish to lose it.
