“This collection explores contemporary jewellery designs with traditional Chinese beliefs to encapsulate childhood comfort. Each design depicts a sign of the Chinese Zodiac, with the addition of the cat and two pieces dedicated to my loving parents. These pieces evoke memories of comfort and feelings of security. Each piece connects with the audience through the red string of fate which symbolizes, in Chinese culture and other cultures, the invisible thread that binds and connects us to one another, guiding us to our destiny. The culture, symbolism, and personal nostalgia imbued in this collection creates a feeling of community and a desire to cherish each other's comfort in the form of wearable art.”

Grace Fu is a current OCAD U student. Originally started with Textiles then transferred to jewellery. Her work primarily focuses on integrating other mediums such as thread works in her jewellery concepts. She likes to focus on her Heritage and her work is mainly inspired by childhood memories and storytelling. Her original practice was in visual arts and was able to adapt those same skills into her jewellery process. Grace is very motivated to connect all her pieces to her audiences. Grace's Future ambitions are to open her own business with integrated fabrics and metals works.
