“Alona Fiandaca's photography is studio-based and inspired by conceptuality and fine art dynamics. She is interested in the way she can truly ignite her creative vision (or even her client's vision) in a controlled environment, but will not put down a challenge in a more wild setting. She utilizes professional lighting equipment in order to create a variety of themed images such as dramatic, warm and colourful. She connects with her collaborators one on one to better understand their ideas and photographic goals, and from there, Alona proceeds to draft out makeup, wardrobe and lighting selection to bring their image to life. Her studio practice is a nod to those who feel camera shy. In an attempt to reassure her clients, she gives them the opportunity to entrust her in exploring confidence and proving that everyone is ‘photogenic’. Today, society makes it seem like you have to look or act a specific way in order to be deemed 'photogenic'. This stigma is seen affecting many people, and Alona wants to help break it because life is too short to be scared of a camera. Alona believes that studio photography is a way to be in control of not only the equipment she handles, but to allow her clients to be in control of how they feel and what they want. And with this control, self-esteem is heightened. With this balance, her projects become memorable for each party. ”

Alona Fiandaca is an early graduate of the Photography Program at OCAD U. Her work primarily consists of portraiture and fine art. Her prints are well cared for and her passion for capturing her models in a studio-based environment stems from the idea of being able to allow everyone to see their own inner and outer beauty. Completing her 4-year undergrad program in 3 years, Alona Fiandaca has out-of-school experience as a wedding photographer as well as running her own small photography business from her in-home studio, a studio that always invites new people and potential clients. Alona's work is done with a grain of strategy but is heavily formed through the wholeness of her heart, making sure she captures her own creative vision and that of clients.
