Industrial Design
Yasemin is a Toronto-based designer, born and raised in Izmir, Turkey. She is in fourth year Bachelor of Design program at Ontario College of Art and Design University (OCAD U) in Toronto. Her major is in Industrial Design. As an industrial designer, she thinks she likes to focus on colours and patterns. She creates colourful patterns that will fit in interiors, wearables and objects. She is interested in everyday packaging, she thinks that as an industrial designer it is essential to design functional as well as aesthetics packagings. She is aware of good and bad packaging by observing their graphics, colour choices and functions. She feels like there are no limitations in packaging industry, and that designers can be very creative. She likes to apply her culture into her designs, identity is very important to her when it comes to creativity. One of the other passions of her is interiors. She appreciates furnitures, space, lightning, and colours in her surroundings. She is aware of upcycling and likes to apply it in her own design practices. She always had strong interest in fashion ever since she was a child, she loves combining pieces of clothes in her daily life and this interest reflects to her art practices. She thinks that clothes are the extensions of our emotions. She has a great interest in everyday objects. She likes to find problems in her daily life to challenge herself to come up with solutions, especially when it come to housewares and services. One of her goals is to design packagings for food/beverage and cosmetic/skin care brands. Yasemin likes to use her creativity in her daily life and be aware of her surroundings. This is what makes her an Industrial Designer.
