Digital Futures
“Madelaine is an Artist, Creative Technologist, and Interactive Media Designer who loves to explore how emerging technology can create new and engaging ways to interact with the world around us and bring stories and narratives into perceptible reality.”
In a world where technology is always evolving towards perfecting reality-- faster speeds, thinner displays, higher pixel count, and complete immersion, in my practice I strive to embrace technology for its ability to create meaningful experiences regardless of its efficiency or supposed technical worth. Still, I have always been fascinated with the intersection of the digital and real world, so instead of reproducing reality in my work, I choose to bend it and stretch it to add underlying and overlying, often surreal, narratives to otherwise familiar scenes. On the other hand, I also have a penchant for recreating the fictional and digital in reality. So, similarly to the projects I have worked on in the past several years--spanning board game design and video game development to interactive physical computing-based installations, my current focus is now on warping reality through mixed reality and virtual reality technologies.
