“How might we use radical futures methods in complex, stigmatized health contexts to dismantle stigma and navigate complexity in order to enact meaningful societal change? Taking an evidence-based and participatory design approach, I explored the use of speculative design methods in healthcare in hopes to uncover tools to aid with opioids-related stigma and enacting societal change. ”
Ruslan Hétu (He/Him) is a multidisciplinary designer with a background in Industrial design. His research topics include the potential of speculative tools and methods to aid in unravelling the complexity of sensitive health contexts and the important of languages in care. In his practise, Ruslan strives to be a point of flux, a bridge to ethical and moral change through design, research, and compassion. Ruslan strongly believes in taking a health promotion lens in combination with participatory design work in order to enact meaningful change with communities who are structurally marginalized and racialized. A recent graduate of OCAD University’s Master of Design in Design for Health, Ruslan hopes to continue developing and expanding his knowledge to eventually design for outer space.
