I used to place knowledge on a pedestal as if it were whole, objective and complete only to learn it is often partial, shaped by the spaces we occupy and the histories we inherit. It wasn’t until I left that place, years into studying design that I began to feel the weight of my environment, the way it quietly speaks through architecture and the absences we grow used to. That shift in understanding changed how I choose to respond. Design, for me, is now a way of listening deeply. A way to protect and shape a voice. One that doesn’t shy away from complex realities, but moves with them—questioning, preserving, reimagining. Through design, I practice paying attention. Through design, I resist forgetting.
