“This work begins with a question that has haunted the history of visual culture: Why do the same images of women, passive, perfected, and posed, continue to repeat across centuries? By tracing a visual timeline from 17th-century academic and salon traditions to contemporary beauty magazines and social media, this work reveals how deeply rooted ideals of femininity continue to influence the way women are portrayed. The work creates reproductions that expose persisting visual patterns by combining traditional and digital methods, such as gel print transfers, collage, and hand-crafted textures layered with digital design tools. These are not mere copies but reimaginings that question the authority of historical imagery. Merging classical and contemporary media, the work explores how reproduction can expose and resist inherited narratives. Guided by feminist critique and research, it reclaims space for more truthful, human images and invites viewers to move beyond the gaze and see women as subjects of their own power.”
