“My thesis: Presentation of the Fantastic: Interactions Between Text and Illustration in Andrew Lang’s Coloured Fairy Books investigates the text-image-reader relationship of illustrated fairy tale books, discussing how these interactions inform the reading experience and project Victorian-era social biases. My work is primarily concerned with book and publishing history in the context of their cultural impact and broader social concerns. I have a particular focus on the world of fairy tales and folklore collections because of their complicated presence in print media. ”

Alex is a graduating student from OCAD University's Visual and Critical Studies program, with a minor in Drawing and Painting. His research is primarily concerned with the cultural and ethical impacts of book publishing. Alex is also a practicing painter and sewist.
