Drawing and Painting
“Susana Mingram's work focuses on empowering the female body through the symbiotic relationship of horses and women as the quest to find one’s power. The intensity of movement and clear gesture of the brushwork reflects the movement of her own body, intuition and familiarity with horse anatomy. Her work fights against the over-sexualization of the female body and patriarchal values to find her freedom and inspire other women to find their strength by expressing suppressed feelings and emotions.”
Susana Mingram is a Mexican Canadian artist who resides in Ajax, ON. She explores the idea of authenticity being more powerful than originality by digging deeper into her passion for horses, childhood memories and life experiences. She's currently a fourth year student at OCAD University for Drawing and Painting, and has been featured in the, "Let's Go Digital, Let's Get Active!" art exhibition by Express Impress in 2020 and is a member of Tool & Eye's collective as a freelance illustrator. She aspires to be a full-time artist after she finishes her degree and she seeks knowledge in different fields such as art therapy, animation, and curatorial practice.
