“My multimedia illustrated series, 'Futuristic Fungi', explores potential uses of mycology and imagines the fascinating technological innovations that these organisms may one day allow humans to fully realize. My passion for the scientific field of biology and my fascination with fungi sparked a desire to emphasize the hope and potential that exists for these organisms to become climate change aids, benefit city infrastructure, improve medical treatments, and allow the production of more renewable natural alternatives. My work aims to celebrate the cultural, historical, environmental, medical, agricultural, and scientific potential of fungi is immensely rich, as many millions of fungi species are estimated by scientists to be undiscovered. My thesis work conveys just a small sample of the immeasurable number of possible usages of fungi that may be available to us in the near future.”
