“Śakti reimagines the feminine power inherent in the cultural practices of Gujarat, India through miniature painting, embroidery, and punch-needle tufting. By blending traditional attire, folk dance, goddess imagery, and geometric patterns with modern and Western elements, it explores the evolution of culture and labour of love from a decolonial perspective. Rooted in Hinduism, "Śakti" honors women's strength and their role in shaping identity across generations, cultures, time, and borders”

Vishwa Patel is an emerging interdisciplinary artist and curator based in Toronto, working primarily in embroidery, textiles, poster colour, and oil painting. Her current work is influenced by her heritage where she explores sacred geometry and fluid cultural identities — bridging Western and Eastern philosophies. Vishwa aims to create a dialogue between traditional techniques and contemporary issues, offering a fresh perspective on cultural identity and the world at large. Vishwa has curated multiple exhibitions in the Greater Toronto Area and has participated in an international artist residency in Thailand. She is passionate about community arts programming and facilitates workshops and events for local artists.
