Cross Disciplinary Art: Life Studies
“I am every age I have ever been, intertwines object with memory, drawing on archival imagery and the bed as a place of growth and safety. Personal identity informs a reflection and recreation of the feelings of longing and loss that go along with growing up.”

Kaylei Williamson is a multidisciplinary artist exploring personal identity using archived family photographs and memories as a source to navigate the transition from childhood into adulthood, transforming her work into a self-portrait of memory. She investigates this metamorphosis through a combination of various mediums including paint, textiles and photo, making connections between past and present by adapting material to give it new meaning. The expressive lines, patterns and colour added to her work evoke a feeling of whimsy and nostalgia delving into the expressions of vulnerability and ephemerality found in childhood.
