“I am drawn to photograph subjects which most people tend to overlook, or not perceive as interesting, and to present them in a new way. In addition, I want the physical images to pose questions such as: is it a photograph? a painting? a digital entity? does it even matter? These are similar to the questions I ask myself when visiting the places I photograph and looking at the objects connected with them – what is it? how old is it? why is it here? Historic photographic processes produce a unique and sometimes surreal view of the subjects that capture my attention. The interpretive, painterly aspects of these past processes, combined frequently with infrared film capture, allows great opportunities to convey my impressions of these special places and people.”
