“This thesis-based project is a testimony of how design can help us think, analyze, and create from our immediate surroundings. Using my first-hand insights and in-depth research into the industry of wallpapers, I have identified multiple streams of waste throughout their lifecycle - from their production to their eventual use on the wall. This project aims to breathe new life and purpose into a forgotten product, wallpaper, which would otherwise exist in only one form and for one purpose. Using a series of experiments that tested the durability, flexibility, and versatility of different types of wallpaper, I have explored their potential uses as raw materials for generating consumer products. I have, in a sense, recast these bygone materials into new and useful roles, allowing their unique properties and strengths to shine once more. ”
As an avid traveler, and living in different cultural contexts of the East and the West, my design thinking is rooted in curiosity and continued learning. I combine the technical and practical skills of design with a fresh perspective integrated into my work. Product design, strategic thinking, and furniture design are just some of my interests. As a heading member of the Student Association of Industrial Designers (SAID) at OCADu, I have always strived to make a change in every place I am part of.
