“My practice is avidly growing with the knowledge I learn from the world around me. Looking closely at the environment, I'm constantly expanding my understanding of plant species coexisting with the knowledge of color theory, learning new various pathways on the evolutional web, reading nature's clues of the annual rhythm in nature. Through these observations I can differentiate modern effects on the natural world and where our relationship with plants and animals have shifted technologically through modern times. Diving deeper into relationships with the land and indigenous taught classes have brought me an intertwingled understanding of what might have once been thought of as an empty field. From this, developed a deep appreciation for the inner workings of the environment and generational knowledge from elders. I replicate this in my paintings by creating layered portrait compositions that use foraged and preserved elements and layered textures. My work aims to bring fun light to critical ideas of human animal relationships, numerous modern changes to the natural world and bring assuage and appreciation to the relationships with our elders for their oral knowledge. ”
