“The series Blue 1.75 presents the origin of my obsession in blue monochrome figures in oils. It is the product of a need for affirmation of ethnicity, of a desire to be unique and original, of nostalgia and isolation. Within a 1.75 ratio canvas, which represents my immigrant generation, the comfort void is projected. Inside the void, the most beloved artists sit or lie down alone comfortably or despondently. The blue sinks them deep down and provides space to breathe. It overpowers them, until they become blue as well. Yet blue deeply underlies the possibility to illuminate anytime.”
