Arora

aka. Aarora, Drawing and Painting

“Aaarora explores the complexity of the Human self by questioning her Hindu religious upbringing and the work of psychologists like Carl Jung. Her thesis reveals how memories and experiences shape our view of the world. In examining the spiritual layers of experience and using elements of pseudoscience and science to question the site of self.”

Arora explores the emotional imprint of human interaction and the complex nuances of memory. Growing up in Dubai and currently based in Toronto, Arora has finished her BFA in Drawing and Painting at OCADU. Her cross-cultural experience has broadened her appreciation of how memories mould, linger over, and heal individuals. Arora explores the spiritual layers of experience within every individual, shaped by emotional patterns and subconscious experiences. Arora is interested in unravelling Carl Jung's theory on the Ego, Shadow and Self.Arora's works mainly consist of scenes of daily life or loved ones. Her desire to present memories in their purest form is the driving force behind every piece she creates, whether for her own study or a commission. Inspired mostly by her spiritual upbringing and the opportunity to gain experience in art therapy, Arora draws on themes of memory and the subconscious as a living, breathing entity that evolves, transforms, and resurfaces rather than being a static archive. With this insight, she approaches her paintings with a literal or abstract approach that fuses personal narratives to create a sense of shared empathy.
