“"My work begins where certainty ends. Often created in moments of mental and spiritual dissonance, my process resists clarity and instead embraces disruption, hesitation, and subconscious gesture. I rarely create without intention—but when forced to work without a clear image or narrative, I find something unexpected: a space where the subconscious takes over, and every mark, though seemingly accidental, reveals stored thoughts, memories, and beliefs buried deep within. This body of work is an experiment in “working without thought,” where intuition guides the hand and doubt becomes part of the medium. The result is a visual expression of internal contradiction—between belief and disbelief, between purpose and absence, between spiritual structure and existential weightlessness. This is not work that seeks resolution—it invites reflection. It lives in tension, thrives on contradiction, and asks only that you look with your own eyes, and feel what you will."”

"Vismay Anand Sanghavi is a visual artist based in Toronto, Canada, originally from Mumbai. Born in 2003, he is currently studying Drawing and Painting at OCAD University. His practice centers on large-scale, emotionally resonant works that explore internal tensions—between faith and doubt, structure and disintegration, presence and absence.Vismay’s recent work reflects a deep engagement with spiritual inquiry, psychological duality, and the complexities of belief. Rooted in personal experience and philosophical study, his drawings—often rendered in charcoal on raw, unprimed canvas—speak to moments of oscillation and liminality. This approach emerged most notably in his thesis project Pendulation, a body of work created in response to a seven-month journey across India, marked by deep introspection and spiritual flux. While his influences range from metaphysical thought to lived conversations, Vismay’s artistic process is grounded in experimentation across mediums, with a focus on texture, materiality, and gesture. He balances conceptual depth with formal sensitivity, allowing space for ambiguity and open-ended interpretation. Through his evolving practice, he seeks to offer a visual language for contradiction—a space where internal conflict, cultural nuance, and spiritual searching can coexist without resolution.
