“I witness my audience as the trees, the wind, the birds, and to be in unison with everything around them.”

Jenny Vong (b. 2002) is an emerging, multi-disciplinary artist based in Tkaronto. Born in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, they spent 11 years there before immigrating to Canada in 2013. Their artistic practice explores the depths of human experience through expressive figurative works in painting, sculpture, textiles, drawing, and stained glass. Since 2022, they have been building a body of work focused on Human Animal studies. Tactile and sensory elements are culturally informed and rooted in Vong’s upbringing, with narratives woven into their background, including immigration from Vietnam, cultural practices in Buddhism, and the Chinese Zodiac. Their works seek to dissolve the hierarchy between human and non-human by fostering empathy, reverence, and spiritual awareness. It is an invitation to consider the act of care and deep observation as a meditative act - to maintain a lifelong dialogue with the world and beings around us.
