Sierra da Silva-Canadien is a Mohawk-Portuguese visual artist residing in Toronto, Canada as she completes her BFA in photography at OCAD University. Through oil painting, and digital and film photography, her practice encompasses personal narratives relating to identity, culture, and adversities. Using forms of self portraiture and exploring Indigenous methods and materials, she also aims to explore both sides of a perceived dichotomous identity. Sierra da Silva-Canadien finds inspiration from surrealism and often uses post production and forms of abstraction to investigate feminine body image and the human form.
