“My artworks explore the interconnectedness between us and the earth, the cycle of life, and my dreams. I’ve always had a strong connection to nature, always wanting to be outside, curious about the animals and plant life around me; a source of inspiration for my artworks and poems. I trace stories back to my Philippine heritage, history, and sciences to create a better understanding of the world around me while creating storytelling elements in my paintings.”
Angelica Candido is a Brampton-based artist specializing in acrylic painting. She is inspired by her cultural heritage and surroundings which she depicts in her paintings with the element of storytelling. Candido has exhibited with George Brown College to showcase her work after receiving the award for Best Print Portfolio, was featured in the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), Ignite Gallery, Toronto Outdoor Art Fair (TOAF), Myseum of Toronto & Tea Base’s “Quarantine Qapsule,” Beaux Art Gallery, and CBC East Coast news. She received grants from JVS Toronto & The City of Brampton for her online art business to sell original paintings and prints. She continues to follow her passion by attending the bachelor's degree program at OCAD University for Drawing and Painting.
