“I am exploring the cross of my work in the Royal Canadian Navy and my painting practice. Through the documentation of seascapes, I share my experience at sea on a Halifax-class frigate within the West Coast fleet, aboard the HMCS Regina. ”

Sabrina Holmes is an emerging visual artist and painter from Whitby Onatrio, Canada. Training for years as a Painting and Drawing major at OCADU. With a main focus on developing techniques in oil painting, Holmes has taken an interest in creating a portfolio with a focus on documentation of memory. Holmes's current work draws from the documentation of her work in the military. Being in and around this environment for several years, Holmes has begun the exploration of the relationship dynamics experienced by service members and their work. Drawing from the Information aquired through time in the military, Holmes has taken a keen interest in exploring the ideas of landscape ties to memory and emotional well-being. Through landscape and seascape, Holmes has developed the bases for work centred around environment and emotional ties that are experienced when away from home for extended periods of time. Sharing the time at sea with audiences allows Holmes to communicate the tolls taken on members and shares what it looks like to be in a state of separation.
