“People searching for mental health care face significant barriers. After getting over the initial difficulty of reaching out for help in a society that still stigmatizes mental illness, potential clients are then met with high prices, overwhelming amounts of information, and an inability to access the personalized care they really need. How might we reduce the influence of these factors to shift societal attitudes toward accessible mental health care? How can we reduce both financial and emotional investment in the discovery process?A modern mental healthcare product needs to provide education to users in accessible and gripping formats to encourage research and informed choices when moving forward with their personal journey.Illumia is a digital application that matches users with different therapies depending on their individual needs. Illumia creates procedurally generated worlds using interactive environmental artifacts that are derived from developed therapeutic techniques. Users decide which interactions, and therefore which therapies, are more or less effective for them.

Hello! I'm a multidisciplinary designer and artist. My practice explores rich human experiences, methods of community building, and self empowerment through multimedia works. I'm especially interested in looking at how design thinking can be applied when working with disenfranchised users, and groups of people who often are forgotten in the world of design.
