Meet the Artist

Marcelo

Fernández

“Through research into historical events, I reflect on ideas about power and social control. I use oil on canvas and am experimenting with plywood as a painting surface to depict violence, surveillance and rebellion in response to increasing technological control and impending environmental catastrophe. Photographs and digital tools are part of my composition process and the application of thick layers of paint and spatula work are new additions to my painting practice.”
