“My current practice explores reflections of self identity through my connection to trees and nature, mixed with memories and themes of nostalgia. These ideas delve further into topics of 'owning your own shadow,' an aspect of Jungian Psychology where one looks at the unknown dark side of the personality and taking measures to balance ego and shadow in order to become a whole balanced individual. As an artist, I am constantly allowing my environment to inspire me and help me tell my stories.”
Elena Dokoska was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario and completed her BFA at OCAD University through the Drawing and Painting program. Combining her love for nature, expression, and experimentation, she is able to produce her uniquely imaginative paintings. Elena’s bold passion for art sparked at the age of two when she made the wise decision to stay indoors with her grandfather on a rainy day learning to create beautiful drawings. Elena has exhibited her work for various shows and has worked with TAS condominiums, had her work published by OSSTF on twitter, Facebook, and a monthly newsletter, and was the recipient of the Mercedes Benz Financial Services Drawing & Painting Direct Entry Scholarship in 2016. She can usually be found peacefully drawing in the comfort of nature.
