“Jewellery is an expressive language. It is a way for me to speak and express my internal self. Jewellery also serves as a site for me to display my way of thinking.”

Kexin (Kristy) Wen is a contemporary jewellery designer and artist from Shenzhen, China. In her practice, she creates one-of-a-kind wearable art jewellery using traditional metalsmithing techniques and various materials including metals and plastics. Her notion of jewellery extends beyond the definition of adornment; she aspires to make wearable art that shares the body as one with the wearer. Her body of work is inspired by natural elements and focuses on incorporating curvilinear forms symbolic of the ecosystem formed between the living and the inanimate. Symbolism is often used to evoke her emotions and the human-jewellery connection. She aims to master traditional jewellery techniques to combine modern aesthetics and her passion for this highly developed art form. Kristy is also studying a minor in photography, her photographic work focuses on narrative sequences.
