“I love creating hand-drawn animation that explores emotion and human behaviour through storytelling”

Ayşenur Özkan, known as Ash, is a Turkish-born 2D animator and visual storyteller based in Toronto. Her practice focuses on hand-drawn digital animation, rigging, character animation, storyboarding, and environment design, with a strong focus on colour, mixed media, and experimental techniques.Her work explores human behaviour through psychology, shaped by personal experience and urban life as an international student. She studied Pre-Animation and Illustration at Algonquin College (Dean’s Honours), completed her BFA in Experimental Animation at OCAD University (Dean’s Honours), and trained in classical and character animation at Vancouver Film School (Most Improved Student Award) and Gobelins in Paris.Proficient in Toon Boom Harmony, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and After Effects, her work has been exhibited in student shows and selected for festivals in Turkey. Ash combines technical precision with emotionally driven, socially aware storytelling.
