“Starting with the theme of love, my paintings evoke a dreamlike atmosphere while portraying the process of getting to know oneself through experiences. The past and present selves pursue the same direction, harmoniously blending butterflies and various flowers. My identity, iconic Korean flowers such as the Mugunghwa and orchids subtly permeate the artwork. Exploring identity involves understanding the relationship between representative elements of Korea and the landscapes and mediums I love. Upon closely examining the journey of life, akin to a dream, one can discover the beauty imbued with longing and much effort, even amidst roughness.”
Lina Sung is a curator and multidisciplinary Korean artist. All artworks came and started from her dreams. Her prominent artworks are based in Toronto and Seoul, made with themes of humans and love. Sung wanted to start her stories by reaching out to diverse themes. These days her interest in the theme is shown through her artworks—such as looking into love, one’s perspective, and landscapes.
