“My body of work "Decay Dance" explores the intricate dynamics between decay and rebirth in both biological and spiritual senses. Nearly all substrates in Decay Dance are up cycled materials. My oil paint and drawings act as mold growing on corpses. At birth we are thrust into a metaphorical dark forest. This forest, the result of a sublime number of deaths. Linear time turns cyclical, as bodies and creations are merely reassemblages. Every organism is fortified by consuming the dead. Information and instinct illuminate the path through the forest walked by our predecessors. This path symbolizes drive, destiny, and our relationship to the occulted. Taking inspiration from emanation theory, Decay Dance also represents everything as a reflection of divinity. The horrific fall out of the human psyche, industrialism and the current era, merely a fractal of the ancient saturnian cruelty of nature we try so desperately to outrun using technology.”

I'm a multimedia painter based in Toronto. I studied in the drawing and painting program at OCADu. My work is a personal language of catharsis. I use representation, abstraction and symbolism to explore human emotion, philosophical concepts, desire, death, rebirth and transcendence. I primarily make multimedia paintings on found objects that act as relics and diagrams; Ruminating on the ancient human condition and the trials of modern life.
