“How does the mind change as one grows out of their childhood? Through storytelling, watercolour painting and stop-motion, I attempt to answer this question in my thesis film "Freshwater". This narrative outlines the way in which, with age, individuals gain a sense of self, but lose the ability to perceive themselves through unfettered eyes.”

Olivia Wilyman is an illustrator and animator who combines illustration, stop-motion and mixed media techniques in her work. Pulling from personal experience, she often depicts the simple, quiet moments of life with fantastical themes and imagery. Most recently, her film Fleur was awarded Best Stop Motion Film and Best Stop Motion Puppet at OCAD University's Mid-Way Animation Fair. Olivia takes pride in her dedication to both illustration and animation, having studied both subjects during her time at OCAD. Graduating with a Bachelor of Design and Experimental Animation minor this June.
