Xintong Zuo is an emerging illustrator, jewelry designer, and puppet maker originally from China and currently based in Toronto. Her practice bridges traditional craftsmanship with contemporary visual storytelling, transforming non-visual experiences—such as poetry, memory, and emotion—into expressive visual language through illustration.Xintong specializes in children’s book illustration, conceptual murals, and narrative jewelry design, often incorporating analog techniques like hand-painted wall art, sculpting, and puppet fabrication. Her work explores themes of home, cultural transition, and emotional resonance, blending Eastern and Western aesthetics in poetic visual forms. She has collaborated with publishers and organizations in China and Canada, including China Machine Press and CBC Kids, and her recent series River—co-created with her father—translates childhood memories into visual narratives.Currently, Xintong is expanding her practice into interactive storytelling and installation, seeking to collaborate with other artists across disciplines. She is especially interested in projects that center community engagement, cultural memory, and cross-medium expression.
