“Seven Emotions - Inner Landscape Based on the traditional Chinese culture and the concept of "seven emotions hurt five organs" in traditional Chinese medicine, the seven emotions of joy, anger, worry, thought, sadness, fear and shock are transformed into scenes inside the body. The work takes organs as a carrier to turn abstract and indescribable emotions into visible shapes: the heart, lungs, liver and kidneys are entangled, broken, spread or glow, symbolizing how emotions stay in the body and slowly affect people's state.”

Jiaxin Yu is an illustrator based in Toronto, currently completing her studies in Illustration at OCAD University. Her work centers on quiet visual storytelling, exploring emotions, everyday moments, and the subtle connections between people and their surroundings. Through simple lines and gentle compositions, she is drawn to the space between what is seen and what is felt.Inspired by overlooked details—a beam of sunlight, the texture of leaves after rain, or a fleeting moment in a busy day—her illustrations invite viewers to slow down and experience a sense of stillness. While primarily working digitally, she also explores traditional media such as printmaking, where hand-made imperfections inform her sensitivity to texture, layering, and emotional depth.
