“I paint the unstable identities that surface in fleeting moments — the state of existing without fully belonging anywhere.”

Hyeweon Park is a Toronto-based visual artist. Her work explores unstable identity in fleeting moments — the experience of existing at a threshold where one never fully belongs. Her paintings begin with the coexistence of materials and images that resist full integration. By layering hanji, ink, acrylic, and marble dust, she surfaces a state where memory and emotion remain in flux, unable to settle into fixed form. While rooted in personal experience, her work connects to broader questions of migration, cultural displacement, and precarious social belonging. Rather than narrating a specific story, she builds open structures that invite viewers to project their own experiences and feelings into the work. Her paintings do not offer resolved images — instead, they hold different times and memories in unresolved coexistence, asking how we remain connected across that distance.
